Description
This compilation of four documentary shorts looks at some of the innovative business models that have emerged from the technology-enabled "sharing economy," as well as how government entities and moneyed interests are often working to regulate or hamper them. Part 1 looks at how car-sharing services like Lyft, Uber and Sidecar are facing legal battles for themselves and their drivers. Part 2 covers how the dining and "supper club" service EatWith is trying to pre-empt regulation trouble. Part 3 documents the online educational marketplace Teachers Pay Teachers. And Part 4 looks at how the U.S. JOBS Act seeks to allow online crowdfunding sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter to enable equity crowdfunding, where investors can actually own a stake in the company they back, and earn revenue if it becomes successful. A Reason TV production.
