This 1932 production was the first filmed adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's famous novel Madame Bovary-but with all the characters renamed and the setting transported to Rye, New York in the 1930s. Directed by Albert Ray and starring H. B. Warner, Lila Lee, Beryl Mercer, Joyce Compton, and Jason Robards, Sr.
