Description
When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD, the bodies of the people of Pompeii were perfectly preserved in their final moments. Using 21st century forensics, this film reveals for the first time the unique set of circumstances that led to this remarkable preservation. Leading volcanologists, archaeologists and forensic scientists piece together this incredible mystery. The program reveals who the victims were and why they were caught in such life-like poses, apparently not trying to escape. Stunning CGI shows the incredible power of the Vesuvius eruption and for the first time, the faces of the victims are revealed using facial reconstruction techniques.
