Description
Throughout the 20th century, the fortunes of the papacy seemed at an all-time low, but the spiritual power of the pope had grown to dizzying heights. An ever-changing world with modern values challenged that power time and again. This film examines those challenges facing modern day popes both inside and beyond the Catholic Church. A review of the reign of Pope John Paul II, the first non-Italian pontiff in more than 450 years, attempts to determine where the Church is heading after his death.
