Description
Because players can use strong body contact against opponents with only some types of "checking" being illegal, injuries in ice hockey are frequent. In this program viewers learn about penalties, protective gear, goalkeeping, and other aspects of how ice hockey is played. Details of four basic skill areas-skating, stick control, passing, and shots-are demonstrated, along with explanations of positions and roles of the players. The video also gives an overview of the evolution and spread of the game, and how it's governed for international competition and in North America.
