Description
Discover the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, home to some 45 flourishing species of marine and land animals, as it faces the threats of global warming and oil drilling Journey into Alaska's temperate rain forest to gain insight into the great brown bear's family den, and witness them salmon fishing. Habitat loss is causing many wild Asian elephant populations to decline. In Myanmar, a history of selective logging and domestication helps protect these creatures and their forest homes. On the outskirts of Panama City, a researcher studies a nest of thousands of native honey bees, including the queen mother. Dr. Zahi Hawass explores the remarkable Egyptian Museum collection in Cairo housing more than 100,000 artifacts from antiquity. A team of vulcanologists travel to Ethiopia's Erta Ale to collect a sample of this volcanoe's boiling lava to explore its history.
