Description
A variety of expressive modalities are demonstrated in these vignettes, which have been excerpted from two films about dance and art therapy. In the first sequence, veteran movement therapist Norma Canner combines music, art, drama, and dance in a workshop for adult professionals. Activities progress through stages of spontaneous movement and vocalization, culminating in the drawing of full-body "masks" or outlines which each participant colors and enlivens with his or her own visual motifs. The second sequence features Carolyn Grant Fay, a Jungian movement therapist who leads workshop attendees through layers of physical, mental, and emotional awareness, followed by work in clay, paint, and other materials.
