In the world of aeronautics, it's said that no matter what other innovations are introduced, the wing defines the aircraft. Focusing on the A380 wing - at 17.7 meters from front to back and 36.3 meters from fuselage to wingtip, it is the largest ever produced for a civil airliner - this program explores the frontiers of aircraft design and manufacturing, visiting two major Airbus factories in the United Kingdom. Near Bristol, a center of aircraft construction for almost 100 years, viewers meet engineers and designers at the company's cutting-edge research and development facility. In North Wales, at one of Europe's biggest factories, the technicians who actually build the massive wing are shown at work, turning raw materials into majestic sky-worthy structures.
