Description
Filmed successively in 1978, 1988, and 1997, this award-winning program tracks Lily, a person with Down syndrome, from childhood into adulthood. 'Lily: A Story about a Girl Like Me' introduces Lily at age 10 and in third grade, where, as a pioneer for mainstreaming, she is filmed coming to terms with both academic and social pressure. 'Lily: A Sequel' catches up with Lily at 20, with scenes of her triumphant graduation from high school and of her life as a restaurant worker and group home resident. And 'Lily at Thirty' illustrates Lily's increased independence, showing her living in her own apartment and working in a supermarket. Endearing; bittersweet.
