Description
Until the middle of the 19th century, development in urban centers was limited by the scope of how far residents were willing to walk to travel to their jobs or local businesses. The development of elevated trains, subways, and early automobiles allowed cities to spread out like never before, and it resulted in a boom in the population of urban centers.
