Description
Following World War II, many Americans moved from large cities on the East Coast to what became known as the Sun Belt. Sun Belt states, such as Florida, Arizona, and California, offered affordable housing, growing industries, and a sense of promise. San Francisco, one of the largest and oldest cities on the West Coast, developed several urban renewal projects to handle this massive population boom. California soon became the nation's most populated state.
