Description
In 1982, Tom Daschle, then representing South Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives, authored a bill known as the Farm Crisis Act, which would supply emergency aid to farmers. Daschle, who served on agricultural committees in both the House and the Senate, became known as a strong advocate for farmers, promoting farm subsidiaries and other forms of federal aid to farmers.
