Description
In order to save lives, emergency room procedures require teamwork and split-second timing-not unlike what goes on in an airplane cockpit. In this program, medical professionals watch a performance of Charlie Victor Romeo, a play based on a number of actual air disasters, and then implement the lessons from aviation by adopting a more systemic approach to safety. The video shows hospital staff performing dramatic reenactments of medical crises patterned on similar situations in airline emergencies and demonstrating where potentially deadly errors in patient care can occur. Dr. Donald M. Berwick, president and CEO of the Institute for Health Care Improvement, provides commentary.
