Description
Scope and content: A variety of material by and about women and women's issues. Materials focus upon women and girls, and within that focus, cover a wide range of subject matter. Generally, items included are not easily catagorized in any other way. Quantity of materials is usually one to three items. May contain some photocopies.

Materials include: an illustrated booklet, circa 1920, about a girls' camp, Camp Bon Air, located on the Cumberland Platau near Sparta, Tenn.; flyers about job discrimination and the law (1979); the displaced homemakers' program operated by the YWCA (undated); and the Southeastern Women's Festival, sponsored by the YWCA of Nashville and held at Cedar Crest Camp in Lyles, Tenn. in 1975 to mark the occasion of International Women's Year. A booklet entitled, "Made for Maids and Matrons: Dressmaking in Middle Tennessee, 1830-1920" by Janet Hasson, created for Belle Meade Plantation in 1994, is also part of the collection.

Researchers are advised that materials relating to women and the field of study known as women's history may be found throughout the Ephemera Subject Files and may not be explicitly identified as women's history resources. Examples include girls' schools in Schools Ephemera Subject Files, and women's clubs relating to a variety of topics, found in Organizations Ephemera Subject Files, to name just two of many examples.
