Description
Nina's daughter Simone explores the life and career of her mother - the protest singer, jazz chanteuse, blues artist and live performer as heard on BBC Radio 2. This special release looks at her life and career, providing a glimpse of the woman behind the distinctive voice. It features Nina's music and contributions from some of Nina's closest friends. We hear about Nina's musical beginnings as Eunice Waymon, a 5-year old child prodigy, to her first record deal, her growing fame and her involvement in the civil rights movement. Nina's daughter also explores her mother's fearless musical style where she often sang soul, jazz, blues, gospel, and Broadway tunes over the course of an album or concert, and what she was like as a live performer.
