Description
Scope and content: One volume ledger of expenses spanning 1929 to 1934 for the firm Beasley & Sons. The ledger provides a daily listing of expenses by category, arranged and totaled by month. Some of the categories include: freight and drayage; labor; taxes; insurance and rent; office supplies; payments to officers in the firm; and a wide variety of other expenses, comprised of approximately 30 categories in total. Yearly totals are consolidated at the bottom of each January page. In the back of the volume are separate sheets as follows: comparative sales by month for 1931, 1932, 1933; statement of cash receipts Jan. 1933; notes and figures on Beasley & Sons letterhead; statement of cash receipts and disbursements; and glued into the back cover, depreciation of trucks, showing make, model, and purchase date. Significantly, some of these documents in the back of the book provide full names for the officers of the firm; in the main part of the ledger, they are identified only by their initials.
