Scope and content: A scrapbook of newspaper clippings, programs, and correspondence related primarily to the music career of Nashville operatic singer Myra Bender, the Nashville Conservatory of Music, Little Theatre productions, and the Peabody Demonstration School. Also present are a few materials about Hidenari and Gwen Terasaki and their daughter Mariko's marriage to Mayne Williams Miller, of Johnson City, Tennessee.

Includes a handwritten narrative "The Six Sun Beams" written by Myra Bender when she was nine years old.

Includes Myra Bender's graduation diploma from Peabody Demonstration School, George Peabody College for Teachers, 1925 June.

Includes a typed letter, signed: G. S. De Luca, Nashville Conservatory of Music, to Miss Myra Bender, Nashville, 1928 July 24.

Includes a handwritten letter: Mrs. Mayne Miller, Johnson City, to Mrs. Stuart B. Smith, Toronto, Canada, 1956 July 28.

Includes a Peabody Demonstration School catalog, George Peabody College for Teachers, 1930-1931.

Includes four 45 rpm vinyl records: 1) When sound was young; 2) Birth of the Grand Ole Opry; 3) Voices of history from the Edison Archives; and 4) Mayor Briley for Mayor.

Includes one LP recording of a vocal recital of Myra Bender, soprano and Fay Foster, pianist, recorded on 1944 December 11 by Carl Fischer, Inc.

Includes a damaged, broken sample record of the Talking Machine Co.

Myra Bender was a Nashville singer and teacher, a soprano who had trained at Ward-Belmont Conservatory of Music under Signor Gaetano S. De Luca, circa the late 1920s. Miss Bender was a soloist with the locally sponsored Caldwell Symphony Orchestra that aired every Friday evening over radio station WSM, Nashville. She also performed with "Nashville on the Air," a music program that aired on WLAC. At some point, she married Stuart B. Smith and they lived in Toronto, Canada for a period of time before returning to the United States.
