Scope and content: A scrapbook of newspaper clippings, programs, and correspondence related primarily to the music career of Nashville operatic singer Myra Bender, the Nashville Conservatory of Music, Little Theatre productions, and the Peabody Demonstration School. Also present are a few materials about Hidenari and Gwen Terasaki and their daughter Mariko's marriage to Mayne Williams Miller, of Johnson City, Tennessee.

Biographical or Historical Data
Myra Bender was a Nashville singer and teacher, a soprano who had trained at Ward-Belmont Conservatory of Music under Signor Gaetano S. De Luca, circa the late 1920s. Miss Bender was a soloist with the locally sponsored Caldwell Symphony Orchestra that aired every Friday evening over radio station WSM, Nashville. She also performed with "Nashville on the Air," a music program that aired on WLAC. At some point, she married Stuart B. Smith and they lived in Toronto, Canada for a period of time before returning to the United States.
