Description
A large quantity of materials from First Presbyterian Church and Downtown Presbyterian Church which span the entire twentieth century are part of this collection, including many of the types of items described above. Particularly noteworthy are printed sermons and church bulletins from Dr. James I. Vance and Dr. Walter R. Courtenay. Documents, letters, brochures and publications detail the nature of the separation of the church in 1955, resulting in the move of First Presbyterian Church to the Oak Hill area south of Nashville, and the renaming of the congregation at the old building to Downtown Presbyterian Church.
