Following her and Gavin's decision to try for a baby, Stacey attempts to get a new job to earn extra money and is given a tough mock interview by Bryn. Meanwhile, Nessa takes baby Neil to see Smithy in Essex, which angers Dave who is left at home with Nessa's father. After a drunken night of beer and curry at Mick and Pam's, Smithy and Nessa wake up in bed together.

Gavin seeks counselling for his marriage troubles from Smithy, but Smithy's idea of relationship therapy is to organize a surprise lads night out at a nightclub foam party. While the boys are knee deep in foam, Stacey is with her family at a bingo night.

Nessa and Dave's wedding day arrives. Stacey has some exciting news for Gavin - she's pregnant at last. Smithy walks in on the wedding and tells Nessa that she should not marry Dave because he knows the only reason she wants to marry Dave is so Neil has a father, which he's already got in Smithy. Dave admits that he knows Nessa never loved him. The two of them shake hands, and Dave leaves the church. The episode cuts to 6 months later, where we see...

Stacey and Gavin are still in conflict over where they should live with Gavin refusing to even consider the idea of living in Barry. Smithy admits to Gavin that he had another fling with Nessa and realises he's going to have to face her again at the surprise party Bryn is throwing for Gwen.

Stacey feels dejected because she cannot get a job and Pam tells her she needs to get out more. When Gavin, Stacey and Smithy head for Barry so that Smithy can go for the scan with Nessa, Bryn takes it upon himself to get Smithy into shape at his home gym.

Stacey and Gavin return from honeymoon to a big welcome from both families. But Smithy seems none too happy with his best friend and Nessa has a confession to make that throws the whole evening into disarray.

Stacey heads to Essex and back into the arms of Gavin. Everything seems perfect until Pam and Mick offer to cover the down payment on a house for them. Then Stacey drops a bombshell and tells Gavin that it can't work between them because they both need to live in their own towns.
