After eight seasons, the long-running and popular series, The Virginian, took a new direction, as well as a new title. The show was now set in the 1890₂s, ten years after the previous season of the Virginian, and it continued to tell the adventures of The Virginian, and his friend Trampas, in Medicine bow, Wyoming.The Shiloh Ranch has now been bout by an Englishman, Colonel Alan Mackenzie, complete with his own very English valet, Parker.

An adaptation of Alex Haley's "Roots", in which Haley traces his African American family's history from the mid-18th century to the Reconstruction era.

A collection of tales which range from comic to tragic, but most often having a wicked sense of humor and filled with unexpected twists.
