When Humphrey the hamster returns to Mrs. Brisbane's class after the winter break, a new class pet and some other surprises give him an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of friendship.

Humphrey the hamster is excited to return to room 26 on the first day of school, and though he is at first shocked to see an all new group of students, he soon comes to know and love them, and gets understandably nervous when he hears talk of moving him from Mrs. Brisbane's room.

Og the frog is a classroom pet who is living the high-life with children who feed him fat crickets and a fuzzy hamster as his next-door neighbor. But one day, there is discussion about returning Og to the swamp. Not wanting to be bullied by the bull frogs or deal with snakes, Og decides to make himself the best class pet ever.

Humphrey, the pet hamster of Classroom 26, is helping Richie with a science project, but Richie's feisty puppy gets in the way.
