Humphrey, the pet hamster of Longfellow School's Room 26, learns that his classroom is full of secrets, the most important of which is that a student will be leaving soon.

Og the frog is a classroom pet who is living the high-life with children who feed him fat crickets and a fuzzy hamster as his next-door neighbor. But one day, there is discussion about returning Og to the swamp. Not wanting to be bullied by the bull frogs or deal with snakes, Og decides to make himself the best class pet ever.

When summer arrives, Humphrey, the pet hamster of Longfellow School's Room 26, is surprised and pleased to learn that he will be going to Camp Happy Hollow.

Humphrey the hamster is puzzled when unfamiliar students fill Mrs. Brisbane's classroom at summer's end, but he soon learns that his friends from last year are fine and that the new class needs his special help.

When the kids of Room 26 head to Camp Happy Hollow, Humphrey the hamster is in for a summer of adventure. Og the frog is happy to help the campers and Humphrey adjust to life in the forest and encourage everyone to do their best. But when a camper lets Og out at the lake, he questions where he should live. He loves Humphrey and the kids of Room 26, but the lake feels like home too.
